Description

A porcelain bottle vase with a globular body and a tall neck flaring to the mouth, painted in red that has fired to a warm brownish tone. The decoration is set in bands, each framed by double lines. The upper neck carries a band of lappets, above tall plantain leaves; a scroll border and a raised ring mark the base of the neck. On the shoulder, a band of flowers on leafy stems sits above a ring of cloud collar heads. The body is painted with a scroll of peony and chrysanthemum blossoms with large leaves, above a band of stylised waves at the foot.

The glaze is a pale grey-white with an overall crackle, and the base inside the foot ring is glazed. We attributed the vase to the Ming dynasty.
