Xuande Marked Bowl Ming Blue and White Porcelain
This exquisitely preserved Ming Dynasty bowl bears the mark of Emperor Xuande (1425 – 1435 A.D.) on its bottom. The base begins with a deep foot that gives way to elegant arches with floral motifs; above which is a magnificent floral scrollwork featuring exquisite lotus flowers with curly leafy steems that end just at the edge of the flared lip, in a double medallion. The interior is superb decorated with walls filled with curly stems with leaves that wrap the central figure like a crown. The central double-line medallion frames a breathtaking Chinese rose, splendidly detailed with leaves spreading behind.
