Blue and White Ming Dynasty Porcelain Bowl with Yongle Mark
Superb potted, traditional cobalt oxide paint shines brightly in this bowl from the ancient Ming Dynasty. Its clean foot displays the significant mark of the Yongle Emperor (1402 – 1424 A.D.).
Its base grows with traditional Chinese arches until it reaches a blue sky full of clouds with beautifully represented white doves in full flight, symbol of a long life. The body grows to a slightly flared rim, highlighted from the inside with a double line medallion, which frames the exquisite inner figure of the piece that shows the vivid painting of another couple of doves flying peacefully over a sky full of clouds, creating a harmonious and captivating image.
