Early Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Vase with Characters

This elegant blue and white Ming vase was painted exclusively in exquisite blue tones of traditional cobalt oxide has been superbly preserved. Its base begins with elegant floral arches between two double medallions.

The body ascends through a waisted shape to reach the main figure; a peaceful scene with a delicately painted farmer in the center while a man fishes in a boat in the background. To her right and left are more people immersed in their daily chores, with fences in the background and a tree marking the end of the harmonious portrait.

Above the illustration, a variety of lotus flowers spread out between leaves and curled stems over shoulders that taper upwards. The refined, high neck exhibits beautiful clouds that make way for a majestic, exquisitely painted eagle on top of everything, ending in a small flared rim.
