Blue and White Yuan Dynasty Porcelain Vase with Phoenix
This extremely rare blue and white vase from the ancient Yuan Dynasty is perfectly preserved. Its slightly flared base begins with a white unpainted stripe and gives way to magnificent arches surrounding the perfectly shaped body. The central hemisphere of the antique porcelain vase is conquered by the fierce image of magnificently portrayed mythological phoenix flying in a circle around each other in a way reminiscent of Yin and Yang. Around the birds are undulating clouds that close around them to complete a circle; the whole scene is framed by delicate clouds at the ends. Above the main illustrations are again elegant arches that surround the shoulders of the vase and make way for a slender neck of curled stems and leaves, crowned by beautiful ferns that point to Buddhist symbols spread out like a mantle, above which is a fine, elegant, slightly flared rhyme.
