Ming Blue and White Porcelain Vase Warrior Riding a Horse
This magnificent ฺBlue and White Ming vase is perfectly preserved with traditional cobalt oxide blue tones that still glow like the first day. The piece begins with a slim foot that makes way for exquisitely defined arches spread across the base.
A subtle double medallion marks the beginning of beautifully wavy stems of detailed Chinese peony and leaves that spread out along the body, wrapping around cartouches that majestically frame the two main figures.
The first is a brave Chinese warrior, fearlessly portrayed on the back of a galloping horse with a dao sword in his hand; surrounded by grass, ferns, trees, and an evocative large field behind him.
The second figure presents another Chinese warrior after getting caught, being judged by lofty Mongolians. Above the illustrations are exquisite Chinese roses, fully extended in all their splendour, superb portrayed, surrounded by leaves and wavy stems. The neck features an elegant foral scroll that leads to a medallion and a slightly flared rim with rounded edges.
