Antique Song Dynasty Celadon Vase Elephant Shaped Handles
This rare celadon vase, superbly potted, was made during the Song Dynasty. From its slightly flared foot emerges elegant scrollwork, which ends next to a double medallion, which frames the main figure made of a delicately hand-carved lotus flower shimmering like jade between well-defined leaves and stems.
A single medallion makes way for finely shaped shoulders with two exquisite elephant-trunk shaped handles; symbol of water carried by those majestic animals and a fine detail that conveys freshness and good taste. The neck grows harmoniously through grooved borders to a beautiful flared rim with a flat end. The seductive form of this vase makes it stand out at first sight; elegant and stylized.
