Antique Chinese Porcelain Blue and White and Red 3 claw dragon Early Yuan dynasty
This extremely rare and important imperial antique porcelain vase from the early Yuan Dynasty has a captivating design and a seductive figure with a rounded body sweeping up to a narrow neck surmounted by an elegant, flared rim.
The exterior is brilliantly glazed with various shades of traditional cobalt and copper, featuring the serpentine figure of a three-clawed dragon whose form contours around the body and shoulders of the vase, majestically dominating the scene with its scaled body; presenting a harmonious floral background with curled stems and roses that beautifully fill the scene, running from the body to the rim. The mythical beast has been skillfully rendered with a fierce expression accentuated by its protruding fire-red head, showing its teeth and sticking out its tongue menacingly as if about to attack.
