A blue and white porcelain vase with a globular body, a tall neck and a flared mouth. The neck is painted with a lotus scroll above a band of upright leaves. On the shoulder, a lattice band is broken by cartouches enclosing small emblems, and the body is covered with a dense scroll of flowers and leaves. A ring of petal panels, each enclosing a cloud, circles the lower body above the foot. The blue is a strong violet-blue, darker where the brush pooled.
The base is glazed and crackled, within an unglazed foot ring that has darkened to brown, and there is no mark. A small break at the mouth has been glued back. Our page on the middle Ming dynasty covers the period.
